When contractions got so strong I couldn't talk through them.

Not knowing how long I would be in labor.

Take birthing herbs, eat well, exercise and have a plan A and B.

What surprised you about your birth?
How quickly and cleanly it went with the birthing herbs. The birthing pool didn't even look like anything had happened.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Positioning, massage and focusing.

What position did you end up delivering in?
In the birth pool... sadly only for a few minutes and I leaned forward on my husband till baby was coming then sat back for him to pop out.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Like heaven... it was so sweet to be enveloped in warm water and hold him on my chest.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Take care of yourself best you can, plan for natural but always know things can happen to change that that are beyond your control. Surround yourself with experienced ladies that can help get you through some situations if they arise during pregnancy, in labor and after care. Believe in yourself! Woman having been doing this naturally all through history and are strengthened by their perseverance.
