When did you realize you were really in labor?
Labor was slowly picking up and I wasn't in any pain. I was cooking dinner when I had some pain. Then reality kicked in that I was in labor.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
It wasn't challenging at all. My first birth was more of a challenge I was in the hospital and got the epidural. Most stressful moments of my life. Letting my body naturally labor and baby come when she was ready was all I needed for it not to be challenging.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Birthing classes helped tremendously. Not those measly hospital classes. Birthing from within classes!! Highly recommend.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
I never once pushed. My baby came and she came on her own. I was proud of myself. I felt like I was on top of the world. No one could compare to what I did in that moment. Realized that trusting in God and yourself brings good results.

Do it! Don't be afraid. Don't let that voice in your head stop you. This was by far the best decision of my life. Natural is the only way I could never go back. It was less pain and you heal faster.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
My Doula squeezing my hips and putting cold packs on my lower back. My back felt like it was on fire. That's all the pain I really had...
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
Standing up in squat position. As soon as I felt her head come through my Midwife guided my hands to my baby and I pulled her out.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Sense of relief and shock. Most beautiful moment ever. Time stopped that I was in my room and on my bed holding my baby just like that.
