Attending Birth Bootcamp Helped Andrea During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    I started having contractions 4-5 minutes apart at home.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    It was a very long labor, and I was exhausted in the end!

    Attending Birth Bootcamp (for mom & dad), prenatal yoga, hiring a doula, and reading up on hypnobirthing

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    How kick ass a mommy's body is, how wonderfully and divinely made, and the absolute miracle of seeing your baby, your heart, for the first time.

  • You. CAN. Do.It!! Our bodies are made for this. It is the most wonderful experience, and I wouldn't do it any other way.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Breathing through, cold & hot compresses, soft singer/songwriter music, words of affirmation- "You're doing great! You're almost there!"

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    Hands & knees

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Incredible- words can't even come close to describing the miraculous feeling.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    You. CAN. Do.It!! Our bodies are made for this. It is the most wonderful experience, and I wouldn't do it any other way.
