When did you realize you were really in labor?
When I reflect back, there were early signs that lasted about 3 days. Cramping, nesting, and readiness. I could feel that Life was about to change, that Baby Shannon was ready, that we were ready. My husband and I had a wonderful weekend enjoying each other's company-
Cooking and listening to music. I really knew labor was beginning at midnight- when the cramping returned and turned into contractions.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I’d say the contractions during active labor were the most challenging. We stayed at home as long as possible. I was tired and just wanted to sleep, but laying down or sitting was more painful. Standing and swaying helped me cope with the intensity of the contractions.

Laying in a bathtub with warm water. That didn’t lessen the pain, but helped me relax between contractions. Also, my husband was such a rock. I dangled off of him for hours.
