When did you realize you were really in labor?
I kept waking up rolling around in discomfort, than it dawned on me, "oh maybe this is labor, let me try relaxing and working with these instead of fighting it". It was so much easier once I started relaxing through the contractions and letting my body do its thing.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Learning to relax, even to the detail of understanding the direction of the muscles that were tightening and the ones I needed to relax to work with and not against my body.

What surprised you about your birth?
The intensity of pushing surprised me. It didn't hurt at all pushing my first baby out, and I pushed for 2 hours (just with the urge). This one, I went from no urge to push, to having my water broken, and 5 contractions later, 3 of which I pushed with all my might, delivering our 2nd little boy. I was also SO much more emotional with this one.
