When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was 41 weeks along, so I had a scheduled induce. They broke my water at 7:30 am. I was having strong contractions and feeling the need to push by 8:45!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging part of giving birth naturally for me was the battle in my mind. I had to keep telling myself that I can do this, I don't need medicine.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful thing I did to prepare for birth was to allow myself time to relax before birth. I also did a lot of prenatal yoga to strengthen the muscles used during birth.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised with how quickly it went! I was in labor for about 2 hours. It was an exhausting two hours, but so good.

Believe in yourself. It will hurt, but you will heal. Tell your support team, doctor, nurses, everyone that you want to go natural and have them support you through it. You aren't alone in this.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
The best pain management strategy for me was to breathe loudly and just let all my emotions out. Allowing myself to feel every emotion I had.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I delivered on my back due to having some pitocin to induce labor.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Holding my sweet girl for the first time was the best feeling in the world. I didn't even feel the pain after. Having her in my arms made every single moment of pain worth it.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Believe in yourself. It will hurt, but you will heal. Tell your support team, doctor, nurses, everyone that you want to go natural and have them support you through it. You aren't alone in this.
