When did you realize you were really in labor?
My water broke 15 minutes after midnight on my birthday and the contraction started right away.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
No matter how much I was prepared for natural delivery (giving birth during Covid-19 didn’t help), I still ended up with c-section.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
My husband and I attended Lamaze classes and had an amazing doula, unfortunately only via phone due to hospital covid restrictions.

What surprised you about your birth?
No matter what we planned, our little one was really in charge of the whole process.

Don't beat yourself if you end up with C-section. You did your best and that’s is what matters.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
My regular period feel exactly the same, so I felt like a pro. What was calming about it was the knowledge that pain will go away in 60 seconds so I was counting and counting and purely focused on counting.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Surreal. I couldn’t believe he is here, with us. I couldn’t stop crying.

What did you name your baby, and why?
Nikolai. Our last name is already the first name so we had to choose something that matches and also my parent will be able to pronounce exactly how it should be.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Don't beat yourself if you end up with C-section. You did your best and that’s is what matters.
