My mother lost a bet to an uncle and he got to name me. When I was a child I was spoiled and was so disappointed my name wasn’t Victoria. That’s a princess name. As a teen I loved it. I was unique. I loved it even more after I found out it came from the Yew tree. Look it up. Amazing. And I am so proud.

I love my name and just recently found out it was my mother’s childhood best friend, whom I was named after.
My mother passed when I was 6 and my father when I was 12. Most of my family lives in England and Ireland, as I reside in Canada I know very little about my family.

My deceased mother and maternal great grandmother were both Yvonne. It is a tribute to their strength in my life through they are not physically with me. It is a tough name in America where people don’t know how to spell or say it correctly but I grew up with a name with the same challenge and love sharing it’s heritage with people (Swiss family this french pronunciation).
