  1. It’s classic and interesting, well-known enough, but not super common. It’s also one of the few girl names that ends in a strong “o”, so it’s unique that way!

  2. My husband and I always loved the name, but were hesitant to go with it since it’s not super common. We’re so happy we went with it!

The one thing that’s bothering me about it is when people spell it Margo or pronounce it MarGOT, so that’s what baby girl will live with all her life ????

  3. Margot is named after my late grandmother, Margaret, who passed away when my dad was a teenager. Although I never got to meet her, she left behind an incredible legacy and we wanted to honor her. The name “Margaret” has been used in the family before, so we went with the derivative “Margot”. I think it is sweet, classy, and timeless.

  4. Her full name is Margaret but we really liked Margot to call her. It means Pearl and we think it fits her beautifully!

  5. We chose Margot for our first girl. It was my late mother’s name, her middle name is Eleanor (My husband pronounces it “Eleaner” Which is fine. We had trouble naming our son, we called him Thomas throughout the whole pregnancy. But one of my close friends had her child really early in her pregnancy, and he didn’t survive, and she named him Thomas. So we went with Nikolai with the middle name Jonah, Which really suits him. Jonah is my favourite bible character. Nikolai means victory of the people which is pretty cool. My third, Erica Annabelle Is named after my siblings, Her first name, Erica, was my brother, Eric, who died in a car crash a few weeks before she was born. Annabelle Is close to my heart, It’s really similar to Annabeth which is my sister’s name. With number 4 we didn’t know the gender. I had my heart set on Harriet Rose, So much so I forgot about boy names. I kind of thought about Ben, but Margot said she knew a lot of Ben’s and I wasn’t into “common names.” Anyway, Baby number 4 was a boy and me and my husband blanked. We ended up with Timothy Stuart. I have no idea where Timothy came from, but Stuart was because the older kids and I were reading Stuart Little. I liked it. With Timmy we kind of just winged it.

  6. I thought it was a unique and powerful female name.

  7. I chose Margot from Ray Bradbury’s All Summer In A Day

  8. We just liked the name. There was no family connection, or real reason. Our older daughter is Hazel, and we thought it went nicely with it. I considered the French spelling – Margeaux. I liked the x in the name, especially since Hazel has a z – just thought it was fun. My husband wasn’t as on board with that. I did have concerns, and we have had issues with people not knowing there’s a t on the end of Margot, but I grew up with a crazy last name so I’m not bothered by those things. We have gotten so many compliments on her name – Margot Rose. I really love it. I think it’s the perfect combination of uncommon but not weird – you’ve probably heard of it before, but you don’t know 100 Margots. I also feel like it’s the perfect balance of old but not elderly.
