The year of Jubilee in the Old Testament is when the slaves were set fire and debts were forgiven. It is a foreshadowing of the freedom and forgiveness we have in Christ Jesus. Reply Brittany Jun 25 at 11:31 pm My grandmother came up with my daughters name. Lillianna Jubilee. She’s my second child. Her older brother was born at 24 weeks and gave me a huge scare of course. So jubilee came and brought so much light into my life. We called her lily the first year, she would not respond or smile. She wouldn’t walk or talk, lived in her own world almost. The moments we started calling her Jubilee, she fully changed. She’s brought so much joy to us over the past 7 years, they truly live up to their names. It’s a beautiful name, but my daughter will continue to be my jubilee. Reply Amanda Aug 10 at 4:51 pm I fell in love with the name Jubilee off the Duggar show in 2015. I ended up naming my daughter Jubilee Rae. Middle name after grandmother. She is now 6 years old and lives up to her name and is a ray of light, full of energy and loves celebrating. She has a kind, giving spirit who never meets a stranger. Reply Elissa Jun 28 at 3:15 pm My husband and I fell in love with the girls name Jubilee. It means celebration, and in Hebrew, it means Ram’s horn. In the Old Testament book of Leviticus, God proclaims a “Year of Jubilee,” where every 7 (or 50 yrs) debts were forgiven. Last year, right after our 7th Wedding Anniversary, my hubby and I found out we were expecting baby #3 and we became debt free!! I also love surprises! I didn’t know baby’s gender, but God told me her name was to be Jubilee. Fast forward almost 10 months, and I birthed our second daughter, Jubilee. It truly was the Year of Jubilee. Reply Chelsy Roberts Sep 21 at 9:41 am My husband and I wanted something that reminded us of the Lords wonder and love and we both loved Jubilee! Reply Elissa Jun 28 at 3:20 pm Chelsy, Praise God!!! Reply Whitney Jun 26 at 9:37 pm How/why: my husband and I couldn’t agree on a name. He wanted something with meaning and I just wanted something with strength. I prayed for God to reveal something unique with both. Jubilee means several things but it is primarily for the year of Jubilee in the Old Testament. It’s a celebration and freed many people from their debts. Likes/dislikes: I like that not many people use the name and get excited when they hear it. I dislike that people have a tendency to call her “Baby Ju-Ju.” Lastly – her name is a offers great opportunities to talk about God since not many know what Jubilee means.
