   My name is Bernadette and I absolutely love it, and I also got my Dutch grandma’s middle name.
   I took grew up at school being called Berny,which is the female spelling, it was made very clear to me not that long ago that I was to spell my nickname Berny,as the Bernie is the male spelling.
   So I very proudly am mostly now called Berny,even by my Norwegian Mum,who I love and respect dearly.
   Thanks mum and Dad for giving me this very beautiful name, Bernadette.

   I love the name Bernadette and named by daughter it after my Grandad. It’s a classic uncommon name with several nicknames to choose from.

   My name is Bernadette and I am from Nigeria . I am called Berna for short. I used to spell my name wrongly until I read the story about St. Bernadette and her encounter with Our Lady of Lourdes. Bernadette is a good name that is not too popular in my Country. I wish to imitate the virtues of St. Bernadette.

   We chose it when I was pregnant with our first (BOY!), then decided to go with Adeline for our second baby (girl), and finally gave it to our third in April.

   I love Saint Bernadette Soubirous, and the her story with Our Lady of Lourdes. I love her courage. I love that the name means “Brave as a Bear.” I want our daughters to be women of courage. Courage in their faith and in the things that matter to them.

   We are still trying to pick the right nickname for Bernadette!

     My name is this after the saint, and my middle name is Rose from my grandma. Everyone always called me B as a nickname, but I loved still having my nicknames not overtake and be my permanent name, you know. Then, I forgot to tell everyone in high school my nickname so they called me Bernie even though my mom never wanted that boy nickname, but I like it. My parents call me Bumblebee and BB Cream for affectionate names. Also have spelled B as Be and Bee. I’ve heard of Dette as a nickname from a book, but only my older sister called me that when she little and I was a baby cause she couldn’t say my name. I love the uniqueness!!! Good luck!:))

     I was not given a middle name which I hated since everyone had one at home and school
     I’ve heard ppl say Bernadette Marie but idk I don’t like the meaning of Marie
     Up to you but thanks for continuing the time honored name Bernadette

     My name is Bernadette. Like another commenter, I was called Bernie without my consent growing up and I never liked it. When I was 21 my close friends started to call me Bird and it’s been my preferred nickname ever since. Like the same previous commenter, I like having my full name used, but I offer Bird when I meet new people knowing most people shorten names like mine. Be ready for that- people you don’t know will try to shorten her name, so offer them something your family likes. My 90s friends sometimes call me just B, or B-Real. When I was young I had a friend who’s mom went by Bunny as a nickname for Bernadette, and I thought that was SO cute. Betty’s another great nickname, too!

     The Big Bang Theory absolutely altered how people react to my name (I’ve never seen it). This name is the sort that when I meet people who have ever known a Bernadette in their life, they tell me about it. “My great aunt’s friend was Bernadette…”
