  1. I love my name Anita now at the age of 62. When I was young, I hated it because no one ever shared my name. The there were the bully children that would tease me calling me Bonita Bazaar from a TV cartoon host in the 70’s. Of course there was the Anita Bryant scandal that lead to more teasing. Then later in my 20’s II was teased with “Juanita my sweet chikita” from a Little Feat song. Which wasn’t so bad. Now when I meet someone else with my name we are both overjoyed to belong to a small unpopular name club and we often (even strangers) bond immediate over it! One day in 2022 I met 5 women in one day with my name Anita! I should have bought a lottery ticket. We were all over 50+ and love our name! My family has often called me Nita but one nephew called me Nin (Neen). I love that nickname! The best nickname to me will always be what his children have called me since they were able to utter a word! Auntie!!

  3. Anita means ‘grace’ and in my faith, we believe grace is a blessing from God. Anita, is a blessing to us when we thought we could not have children. Also, we wanted a vintage name that wasn’t common.

  4. My name was chosen by my Grandma Spirit. I call her that because she passed away before I was born. When mama was pregnant with my Older Sister, Grandma gave mama 2 names she liked for the baby, Dawn Renee’ and Anita Ann. Mama named her Renee’. Grandma Spirit never saw me but I have the name she gifted me with.

  6. An?ta is a name that I have not heard a lot. I don’t tend to like names that I already know of a lot of people by that same name. I was also thinking that it would be fun to have a little girl with the same initials as me. AMA. An?ta Maria with a last name that starts with an A. I am Angela Marie. Plus I have a sister named Maria that recently suffered a miscarriage. So this baby will be a special niece for her! Just a couple of thoughts!?
