  1. we loved the uniqueness of it & it is a place mentioned in 1 Samuel in the Bible. 1 Samuel was something we read through several times while trying to conceive; so it meant a lot to us!

  2. It means peace. God kept telling me to have peace during our difficult pregnancy so I looked around for names meaning “peace” for a boy. Only Shiloh stuck out to me and I knew that was our son’s name!

  3. While we were pregnant with my first, I found the name “Shiloh” and immediately fell in love with it. Shiloh means “tranquil, abundance, His Gift“. My husband and I both agreed it could be used for a boy or girl, and since we weren’t finding out the gender, we could use it no matter! When we lost that baby, I knew God showed me that one day I was going to hold my Shiloh – so I saved the name for our next baby. I wish I could say my pregnancy after loss was tranquil, but it was far from it. YET God showed up in abundance and truly brought us His Gift.

  4. I choose the name Shiloh, because I wanted a name that has a strong biblical meaning. Shiloh means ‘God’s gift’ ?.

  5. My husband and I talked baby names before we got married & both immediately said Shiloh. His name means Place Of Peace, which is exactly who he is.

  6. Shiloh comes from the Old Testament and it means “the peace of God.”

  7. My husband and I threw around a lot of names but he was set on Shiloh from early on. I like looking up the meaning of names and found that Shiloh meant peace. It has been a very chaotic couple years for us and that seemed to fit the hope I had for slowing down and getting to enjoy things this year.

  8. My husband and I independently made a list of names that we liked. Shiloh was on both of our lists, and we didn’t really like much else on each other’s list. By the time I was 30 weeks, we just nailed it down because we couldn’t imagine calling him anything else. He’s here now, and it suits him well.

  9. It means place of peace and that’s what we felt like our son would be for people when we were praying for him:)

  10. I believe your name has a great influence on your personality, as well all know there is power in the spoken word. I wanted a calm tranquil child since I already have a 9 and 10yr old, and having him later in life. I found the name Shiloh in an article about baby names. It’s also the name of an album by one of my favorite reggae artists that made it a keeper.
