Jameson Name Meaning

Does it get any cooler than Jameson? A name jam-packed with grit and style, it’s no wonder that he’s popping up more and more in playgroups.

With his stylish -son ending and energetic J start, Jameson is a natural towards the top of the charts. Similar to Jackson and Grayson, he has the surname polish but has an added splash of spunk that’s impossible to miss.

While Jameson is no doubt part of many of today’s top trends, he’s also incredibly unique in his own right. He flirts with the cowboy style yet doesn’t fully commit, somehow carrying a vintage charm as well. Of course, he’s associated with the famous whiskey, but that shouldn’t be held against him. It gives him an extra punch of rugged if you ask us. He shuns the pretentious feel than many surnames pack, standing apart as a little tough guy.

Jameson is also the perfect way to honor a James, as he literally means “son of James.” He shares the same styling with his more common counterpart but carries modern vibes as well that transport him into current times with ease.

Perfect on a wide-eyed little one and adult alike, Jameson is sure to be the next big thing. He has yet to suffer from overuse and is a stand-out pick for any parent.

  1. It went well with his middle name.

  2. He is named after his father

  3. My husbands name is Patrick, but we didn’t want a Patrick Junior, so we named our son Jameson, Patrick. strong name.

  4. My name is Jaime, and he’s my son. Jaime’s son. Jameson.

  5. Whiskey! No one knows how to spell it?

  6. My husbands name is James but goes by Jimmy. He really wanted a Jimmy Jr. but I wanted something more original.. so we comprised with Jameson and call him Jamo for short. Perfect name for our Irish baby.

  7. Our son, Charles, was born on his great-grandfather’s birthday, so it made sense to name him for his great-grandad. However, I made it known he would never be a “Chuck,” a “Charlie,” or “Chick.” But what name would be chosen for a middle name? It was easy for me. Since my husband said no to my naming our son James, it made sense to use it as a middle name. Except, the name Jameson sounded best with a one-syllable first name. So, the name Charles Jameson was given. We really like the name and, thankfully, or son does too.

  8. My husband and I could not agree on a name at all. So he went through the list of names I came up with and started sticking names together that he liked. He came across Jameson and Bentley put them as a first and middle name. Once he said it out loud to me, we knew that it would be our son’s name. Jameson Bentley just sounds like a name that is distinguished, demands attention, and means business. So Jameson Bentley it is!

  9. I chose Jameson because James is a family name but the -son is homage to my name.

  10. Named after Grandpa James, but still individual. Son of James. Dad’s middle name is James.

  12. I’ve always loved the nickname Jamie for a boy and I always thought that ‘James’ was the only name I could use that nickname for but there were already several ‘James’s’ in our family line and I wanted something a little more unique. When my husband suggested Jameson I was a little unsure, but the more I heard and said it the more I liked it. I also like names with more syllables, so Jameson was a great choice for us 🙂 we also call our new baby Jamie ^.^
His first and middle names are Jameson Kaladin.

  13. James is Daddy’s middle name as well as Paternal Grandpa’s first name, great uncles first name, etc. but we had to throw our own twist on it! We Love the longer syllable names!

  14. I wanted James and my husband wanted Mason so Jameson was the happy outcome

  17. I was watching Outlander and really liked the name, then I started hearing boys called Jamie and I thought it was cute. My mom and sister helped me with the middle name of Everett.

  18. I chose the name Jameson because my late fathers name is Jason, and my step dad who raised me, his name is James. So I always loved the name Jameson and I think it’s such a strong name for when he grows up. It was perfect for my son.

  19. My husband chose the name for our son he says he chose it cause it was a whiskey name as is mine

  20. I chose his name to be Jameson because his Grandfather’s middle name is James… so he is the last grandson from me so James-on…
