Reply Willa Oct 16 at 8:26 am I wanted a unique name and good meaning for my baby boy, I didn’t want a name that sound like I made it up. I was scrolling on google and I came arcoss the name Amias I was like how to pronounce it because I never seen this name before I went on YouTube to find out how Amias was pronounced and way he said was Ah-my-us and I said this is it. This was before I even know that my baby was a boy, so now I feel like this name was meant for my son. I chose Grayson for his middle name it sounds so perfect together Amias Grayson ? Reply Megan Feb 10 at 9:39 am My mom passed away in 2020 from cancer before my husband and I got married (4/10/21). My husband and I spoke often about how much it would mean to me to use my mom’s name in a daughters name if we were to get pregnant with a girl the first time around. When we found out we were having a boy we were overjoyed but I still had that feeling of wanting my mom to be included since she had always been so excited about being a grandmother and a huge part of my life. I did research and found out that Amias is the original male name that the female name Amy was derived from (Amy being my mom’s name). I asked my husband if he liked the name and would be open to considering it as a first or second name. He immediately told me he loved the name and was sure it was our son’s first name. I’m so happy knowing that a piece of my mom will carry on with our son. Reply Tony Oct 17 at 7:47 pm 2019 Me and my wife were searching for names.. something unique but powerful. graceful but edgy . We love this name. We spell it Amiaus . Gladiatoresqe . We get compliments all the time! Beautiful name! I imagine in 20 years it will be a common name. Sort of like how Jaden is now . 20 years ago there wasn’t no Jadens Jalens Aidens. lol Reply Rachel May 15 at 12:23 pm We spent a long time and had a very long process for narrowing baby names down, and we were both really drawn to the name Amias. I have a very common name and really wanted a name that was uncommon but not unheard of for our baby, and my husband has an unusually spelled name and really wanted to make sure the name was spelled the way it sounds and vice versa. We’ve already had a few people ask how it’s pronounced, and some have said they’ve never heard the name before, so I’m not sure how well we succeeded with those goals, but we think the name is the perfect fit for our little boy and couldn’t be happier with the choice. We also love that the name is Latin for Loved, and I think it’s cool that it’s one of the only masculine names derived from a female name (Amy).
