He was the king of the visigoths that waged war against the Roman Empire and acquired the throne. He was a respected and generous ruler to his people. Reply Sarah Jul 2 at 11:22 am This is the name I gave my first born (son) my son’s dad convinced me that it was like a lyric as in a song lyric and coming from a musical family, I kinda fancied the idea. Really he would go on to call my son “little Eric” (his dad’s name he goes by Eric) or “All Eric” but thats not why we named him that at all. His dad tricked me with the whole song lyric bit but anyways we pronounce it Uh-lare (like mare only an L not m) -ick sadly my son tragically passed away at age 15 while working with his dad 10 months ago. (We’ve not been together for 13 years his dad and I) but all my kids have A-letter-A names. Azariah (a-z-a) Alachi (a-l-a) same as Alaric (a-l-a) but we all love Alaric the name and my son. The whole community was impacted far greater by his death than we ever would have imagined. Over 500 people showed up to the hockey area for his funeral. My son you are greatly missed, and this strong name meaning Nobel ruler was definitely fitting for you. For everyone loved you so, all your peers, rival teams even- no one could excape your greatness & love nor your silly humour that always made the world seem ok. Reply Melissa Apr 30 at 3:52 am We found the name after watching vampire diaries and loved it. Named our baby boy Alaric in April 2020. Gets mispronounced with people saying Al-a-ric but we say A-la-ric. Reply Allizcya Oct 8 at 12:36 am We have a same thoughts hehe Reply Natalie Mar 28 at 11:02 am We wanted a unique but not an entirely out there or hard to pronounce name. we also wanted it to have a strong origin. Since Alaric means :ultimate ruler” and its the name of a german visigoth king who sacked Rome in the 400s. We figured it was strong enough. Reply Christy Jun 11 at 8:06 pm Alaric was a name I found in a baby name book while pregnant with my first son, I finally convinced my husband it was right for baby boy #2! Reply Emily Apr 13 at 2:23 pm We chose a misspelling of this name (Alorek). We loved the meaning and chose the nickname “Rex” to go with it.
