When did you realize you were really in labor?
Wednesday morning around 6:30 AM. I started having some cramps that I hadn’t felt before, but was super excited!
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
For me I would say endurance, I started labor Wednesday morning at 6:30 and didn’t have her till Saturday at 3:17 AM. It definitely was a longer labor than I had anticipated, but we got through it.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I think watching birth videos and just being very aware of each phase and what was happening in my body. Also practicing breathing, helped me stay on top of my contractions and gave me a little piece of mind.

What surprised you about your birth?
How LONG it took!!!! But once I started pushing it was only 7 mins and she was here! It was hard work but it was so worth it. I ended up having to go to the hospital, so I was very disappointed with that at the time. I was given a tiny bit of oxytocin to get my contractions more regular. But I was still able to do it naturally, and that incredibly empowering feeling. Whoever you are, just keep telling yourself you can do it, you were created to do this! And make sure you have awesome, supportive and helpful people around you!

There are no words. To hold her and know that she is here, she is safe and she is healthy was amazing.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Deep calm breathing, heating pad, and counter pressure on my back. Also sitting in the tub helped.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back in a hospital bed. They gave me the option to move and deliver a different way, but I was comfortable on my back.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
There are no words. To hold her and know that she is here, she is safe and she is healthy was amazing. And when she opened her eyes and just stared at me when I spoke to her, wow, it takes your breath away. And then my husband spoke and she turned her head to look at him, gives me chills, I have my perfect little family. ❤️

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
I think the different positions to get in while in labor was nice, kept me moving. Also learning what can slow down labor and what you can do to change it. I think my husband really enjoyed the classes, cause he really didn’t know much about the process and I think it really prepared him.
