When did you realize you were really in labor?
When my water broke that was my first sign of labor. It broke in the middle of the night and woke me up.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Processing how fast my birth went was challenging. 2 hrs 45 minutes from water breaking to Zoey's arrival. What was also challenging before labor was how many people lacked confidence in me/women, in general, to deliver naturally.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Spinning Babies Yoga plus staying as calm as possible!!!! and of course reading Mamma Natural.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
I was shocked how fast birth was. I truly believe that spinning babies yoga got Zoey in a good position so that when my water broke she was ready to come out. I was also surprised at how contractions felt...it was more like a surge and was not painful.

You can do it and it is a mental game! If you want to go natural you do need to train mentally, physically and spiritually for it.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Having a Doula who coached me during labor. Again labor was not painful, but rather more uncomfortable at times.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
I was on my knees and my arms were draped over the hospital bed which was elevated.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Such a relief! I was in such peace to know that I DID IT NATURALLY and it was awesome because prior to birth we had no idea if we were having a boy or girl. So happy to have a little girl!
