When did you realize you were really in labor?
I awoke about 4:30 am thinking is this "really" it? After having Braxton Hicks for weeks I was skeptical to say the least!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I have fast labors. So for me there was no rest period. I went from are these really contractions to 2 minutes apart in about 2 hours. Baby came 4 hours from my first noticed contractions.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I think reading others stories was the most helpful. Understanding how the body works was also beneficial. I think it helped me to not fight the contractions but to breathe through them.

What surprised you about your birth?
How lightening fast it was and how much I just "knew" once the process started. From walking, to breathing, to the "omg it's time to push"- I did not have the resources to take a birthing classes but instinct kicked in and I rocked my natural hospital birth.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Haha this question makes me laugh. With my labor being so short there really wasn't much relief. I just kept reminding myself it would be over soon!

What position did you end up delivering in?
The standard birthing position on my back.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Magical. The adrenaline was crazy. He was pink, healthy, and working those lungs!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Find other momma's to share positive stories with you. So many people offer up their negative experiences and it's so frustrating. Finding those like minded people to encourage you is so important.
