When did you realize you were really in labor?
Just before midnight on November 8th.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I didn't realize how EXHAUSTED I would be, how long the labor would FEEL. I knew 24 hours was normal, but I didn't realize how long 24 hours could be!!! It was so difficult after 12 hours to keep going, knowing it was only going to get harder.
-
What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Attending birth classes, both in person and online. Watching birth videos. Surrounding myself with only strong, positive support. Exercising through the entire pregnancy. Taking care of myself mentally and physically.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How amazing my husband was throughout the entire thing. I wasn't sure he would be able to handle it, and be there for me the way I had hoped. He was above and beyond anything I could have dreamed of, an amazing coach and support.
-
There are no words to express that. I could cry just thinking of it.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
The shower was amazing. And my husband rocking my hips for me when I was just too exhausted to do anything anymore.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back! The doc did a cervical check, and then it was time to push and I just couldn't move!
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
There are no words to express that. I could cry just thinking of it.

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
It was amazing being able to watch things a few times over, to know what my choices are, and how to deal with things as they arise. It was so so so helpful for my husband. He was definitely not prepared for any of it before watching your class.
