When did you realize you were really in labor?
At about 12 am on September 18th. Mild contractions had started around 6:30 pm and I just waited it out because I had been having those for weeks. At 10 pm I decided to go to sleep in case it was really my birthing time and when I woke up at 12 am they were much stronger! Turns out that was the day I was going to meet my baby.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural was telling myself to stay calm when I was at the end of transition before I met my baby. I knew I was so close, but I had started to doubt myself and really had to stay focused.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I educated myself. Knowledge is power! My mind was stronger this time because I knew what my body was doing and I knew that I was MADE to do this. I think becoming educated on the process and your options is the best thing you can do if you want to have a natural birth.

What surprised you about your birth?
How calm it was! My midwife couldn't believe that I was in active labor because I was so calm. I was really proud of how in control I stayed. This birthing experience was definitely amazing and something I'll never forget.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Hands and knees on the bed!

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Educate yourself. The more you know and understand, the easier it is to visualize your baby. Have a strong support partner/team. Believe in yourself! Your body was made to have babies and it knows what to do. Trust the process and let it do its thing! Enjoy it. The birth experience is such a gift and even though it's hard, it is so amazing. So enjoy the hard parts and try to remember every detail because it is so special ❤️
