When did you realize you were really in labor?
I knew I was in labor once my water broke and contractions began.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural was knowing it was time to push and not wanting to. I told my midwife I was going to be awhile. She was so patient with me and suggested I get Into to a different position as soon as I did I was more comfortable and began to push immediately and baby was born shortly after! Honestly even though this was my 3rd baby, I thought I had to go poop. I didn't think it was the pressure from baby.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I found that practicing positive affirmations were the most helpful in preparing for birth. If you have the right mindset you can do anything!
-
What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised at how fast the birth was. Only 5 hours of active labor until I got to meet my sweet baby. I also didn't have to have stitches this time like my last two babies. I couldn't tell you the magic trick for that I didn't do anything special. My second born the midwife told me I was at a 10 and could start pushing were as in this experience my midwife allowed me to just listen to my body and push when I was ready. Maybe that was the difference?

I did all 3 of my births natural and I would not do it any other way. I did have fear come up each time. I think it's normal. You just have to stay positive and know that your body knows what to do and you were designed to do this!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
My mother was my pain relief! She pushed on my lower back at every contraction which counter balanced the pressure. It was amazing! I sat on a birthing ball with my husband supporting me as I leaned on his shoulders and my mom pushed on my back. I moved around to a few different positions but that was the main one. I also kept saying to myself, "This contraction is a tight hug moving my baby closer to me." (Hypnobabies affirmation)
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
I delivered my baby on a hospital bed on all fours! I don't know what it is, it just felt right.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
When I held my baby for the first time I was overcome with gratitude for a safe delivery and the people that helped me. Midwife, one nurse, husband and my mom. And of course for the unseen angels and God's hand in it all. Theirs just nothing quite like having prayed for something and waiting so long to finally get to that moment and feel so much peace. I thought I was going to be pregnant forever!!!!
