When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized that I was in early labour at 4am on Wednesday July 5th. My husband was sleeping in the guest room because of my incessant pregnancy snoring. I tried to go back to sleep but had to get out of bed to wake him up an hour later. If I wasn't getting any sleep, neither would he.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural and having a home birth was trying to convince all my family and friends that it was a safe thing to do.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful thing I did was to red raspberry leaf tea daily and make sure there was enough healthy snacks readily available. I made tons of energy balls, cookies and soup, which I froze.

What surprised you about your birth?
At about 7cm dilated, my labour stalled. I used homeopathic remedies and movement to release the cervical lip that was stuck on the baby's head. I was surprised at how effective it was. I went from 7cm to fully dilated in a hour and was able to push the baby out in the tub.

Indescribable. I still can't believe he's mine and I get to keep him!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
The pain relief strategies that worked best for me was breathing and back rubs from my husband.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I delivered squatting in the pool with my husband holding me up under my arms.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Indescribable. I still can't believe he's mine and I get to keep him!

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
The Mama Natural Birth class was one the most helpful things we did to prepare for the labor. There isn't one thing that stands out for me. It was just really helpful to hear about natural childbirth from a source that I trusted.
