When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized I was really in labor when my contractions started to come more regular and I started having bloody show. I waited to see if they would stop over night and when they didn't that next morning I knew it was time to go to the birthing center.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural is dealing with the pain. My nurse, midwife and doctor were amazing at assisting me with pain management. From massages, positive motivation (the you can do this speeches) to warm baths and even warm olive oil. I would not have been able to successfully have a natural birth without a team of supportive people around me.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I don't think anything can really prepare you for childbirth. I have had 5 children and the birth of all 5 were different. I would say picking the right birthing center or hospital and the right team would be must helpful. Picking the individuals who are going to be supporting you during childbirth who know you and understand what you want most. Hopefully if your labor is without complication these people can ensure your wishes are executed.

What surprised you about your birth?
The length of time. Again I have had 5 children and although the birthing experience was different the length of time I was in labor was the same about 5 hrs. And I'm counting active labor from the time I hit 4 centimeters and I am having consistent contractions. This time it took 10 hrs.
