When did you realize you were really in labor?
We had labor that started and stopped all weekend. We ended up making a trip to the birthing center birthing center Saturday evening and it fizzled out. Sunday evening at 930pm I had a "it's time to go now" contraction. After four of them (10 min apart) we left again.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Because labor was off and on for two days, and we spent Saturday night at the birthing center, I went into "real" labor with only two hours of sleep in two days. The emotions of the weekend, being three weeks late and lack of sleep made things more difficult.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I got my mind right as best I could. I didn't let fearful thoughts linger. I also thought about my previous births and gain encouragement with how well they went.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
It was harder this time than last. Not too much to bare but more painful. Maybe due to lack of sleep?
-
You can do it. Relax between contractions and try to let them do there work.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
When transition hit I got in a warm tub of water. That may have slowed it down a little but the break between contractions was way more relaxed.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
Laying down in the tub.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing. I'm always amazed at how small they are.
-
What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
You can do it. Relax between contractions and try to let them do there work. Don't tense up if you can help it. I found it helpful to pray through each one. Don't let fear and doubt take root. As you get closer to delivery think about holding your baby. Think about how great it will feel to accomplish the task. Fill your mind with positive thoughts and outcomes.
