Walking Around a Lot Before Heading to Hospital Helped Regina During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    My contractons were 5 minutes apart and I was only 4 cm dialated.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    I couldn't concentrate on anything the doctors or nurses were saying, it was distracting not knowing what to expect. Each one of my labor experiences happened differently.

    I waited out my contractions at home until I felt things progressing and I walked around a lot before heading to hospital.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    How quickly my labor was over. The doctors said I wasn't really dialated enough to be registered into the hospital. They decided to check me in anyway and an hour later my baby was born.

  • Don't be afraid. Listen to your body. Breathe and focus on meeting your new baby. Don't be disappointed if things don't go exactly as planned.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Breathing helped to relax me. Screaming helped me to focus although it didn't comfort the nurses.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    On my back with my knees pulled towards my chest.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    It was amazing. All of the worries and pain I was feeling seemed to fade away. It's as if time stood still and it was just me and my precious little one.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Don't be afraid. Listen to your body. Breathe and focus on meeting your new baby. Don't be disappointed if things don't go exactly as planned.
