When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had been having lots of prodromal labor. I had been having contractions for weeks and it never moved forward till one morning at 4am my water broke!
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Not getting my planned natural child birth. Baby literally flipped to breech position on our way to the hospital and would not flip back.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Research research research and I Took Hypnobirthing classes and had a doula! I don't use ever single aspect of the program but that's why I like it so much because you take what works best for you, apply it and it works SO well! I had to wait 6hours for my C-section after my water broke and using the techniques I learned helped me keep calm and comfortable.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How quickly things had to change, having to get a C-section and not knowing anything about it or the recovery process.
-
Do LOTS of research! Know your options, your strengths and your weaknesses. It helps you know what relaxation strategy will work best for you!
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
During the 6 hours I had to wait for the surgery. Every contraction I completely tuned everyone out and focused on relaxing techniques from hypnobirthing.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
Had to get a C-section.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing and surreal! It was the weirdest thing not to go through all the stages of labor like with my last but so glad it was over and she was Healthy!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Do LOTS of research! Know your options, your strengths and your weaknesses. It helps you know what relaxation strategy will work best for you!
Then also get to know the birthing process and what our body does and goes through! This helps relieve fear. You want to be confident in your body and it's natural process of labor!
