When did you realize you were really in labor?
5 am the morning Dex was born (2/22). I felt bad menstrual like cramps, pressure and a ping. I had been having lots of cramping and little pains for a few weeks prior. When I woke I immediately went to hands and knees position to alleviate the pressure and then I realized my water broke so I went to the bathroom and called the midwife at the birthing center.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
This birth was extremely fast! Water broke at 5 am and Dex arrived at 8:17 am. The most challenging was realizing I was in transition at home and praying we'd make it to the birthing center before he was born! I had to gather strength to get in the car and had my husband throw a few toiletries together that were not yet packed in the birth bag. I wore a robe and slippers because I didn't have the strength to dress. It all worked out though!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I listened to Kierra Blaser's Kingdom Childbirth class, which armed me with knowledge and lots of spiritual support and affirmation for an amazing and peaceful birth!
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How fast it went and that I was able to birth naturally, no drugs and it was amazing! I didn't suffer, but it was definitely intense. I had prayed for a fast labor that I was able to manage naturally with minimal tearing.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
