When did you realize you were really in labor?
It was at midnight. I woke up because I had contractions. Not really painful but regularly. I waited for one house and counted the contractions until they came every 6 minutes. Then I woke up my husband and called my midwife.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I was afraid of another long, long labor. My first birth took me 48 hours and almost 4 hours of pushing. I was afraid they don't let me go natural if that would happen again.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I got a lot of essential oils for my childbirth. I used some special oil on my perineal area, that I wouldn't tear or at least not that much.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
I had a 10 pound 8oz baby, but no tearing afterwards. I could go completely natural, the pushing time was just 30 minutes. It was amazing.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Jacuzzi tub in the delivery room!!! I was at least 4 hours in the tub until I had to push. Also smelling my essential oils and my partner talking to me.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Side laying, one leg up.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Breathtaking, he was pretty calm and I loved him already so much. It was amazing to feel him skin to skin for an hour or so. I was able to breastfeed him and it felt all so right and natural.
