When did you realize you were really in labor?
I never was in labor, I had an emergency C-section.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Trusting the doctors to get my baby out safely. I didn't do so well, but as long as my baby was ok, I fought through my pain.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Nothing actually prepared me for what was about to happen. It all happened in a blur, one minute she was in my belly, the next she was born.

What surprised you about your birth?
How strong I was. How determined I was to get better for my baby. Also how big she was, she came in the world @ 9lbs 6oz at 37 weeks.

Don't beat yourself up if you don't have the birth you want, as long as you and baby are healthy.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Epidural and when that didn't work, stronger drugs resulting in me missing the birth of my baby.

What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back while the sheet covered my lower body.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It felt amazing. My heart was on the outside of my body and the pain I went through was worth it to see my baby for the first time.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Don't beat yourself up if you don't have the birth you want, as long as you and baby are healthy.
