When did you realize you were really in labor?
When my surges were strong enough to wake me up at 4am. 3 days before my due date.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
After the birth is always the hardest time. Stitches, pressing on my uterus, going into shock. This time especially since I had some hemmoraging. I needed to take pitocin, and have two shots to help with the bleeding. I ended up with a clot the size of a baseball, which my doctor had to manually remove. All this while I just wanted to be soaking up my baby. Thankfully it didn't last forever and I didn't need surgery.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Positive affirmations and preparing visualizations that my husband could walk me through. I couldn't do it without him.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
It seemed like it went a lot faster than it actually did. I was so in the zone that time seemed to slip by so quickly.

Use your strategies to bring yourself inside to where your baby is, not to simply remove yourself from the situation. Include your husband too and you will have the most amazing bonding experience. Also, keep an open mind. Things never go the way you plan when it comes to birth, and that's ok! It's all part of a greater plan for your family ?.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Changing positions and using a birth ball.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
All fours.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Unreal! I couldn't believe that she actually came out of me.
