When did you realize you were really in labor?
Around 12 pm on 11/30 when my water broke and my contractions started becoming more regular.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The negativity and doubt I heard from other people when I told them my plan. I had many supportive friends and family, but some people scoffed at the idea that a natural birth was possible. Their doubts made me doubt myself, which caused some pre-labor anxiety. Thankfully, my birth went wonderfully and I could totally do it!

Bradley birthing classes, drinking red raspberry leaf tea daily from 34 weeks on, reading positive birth stories.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How fast it was. 5 hours from my first contraction to meeting my son!
-
You can totally do it! Prepare your mind and body the best you can and don't let negative talk get you discouraged. Remember that each contraction is one step closer to meeting your little one.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
The birthing tub. The hot water felt amazing and really helped me manage the contractions.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Sitting upright in the tub with my husband holding me up from behind.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Indescribable. I was in awe of him and just couldn't believe how much love I felt for someone I just met.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
You can totally do it! Prepare your mind and body the best you can and don't let negative talk get you discouraged. Remember that each contraction is one step closer to meeting your little one.
