When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was a week overdue and knew baby would be coming at any time, I went for a 3 hour walk during the day and by that evening I finally started having contractions. I downloaded an app to track them and when they were less than 5 minutes apart we went into the hospital.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I didn't think I was going to be able to handle the pain but the hospital had a huge jacuzzi tub and having the contractions in the warm water was so relieving.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I had everything packed in the car ready to go. My himalayan salt lamp oil diffuser and other oils helped so much, I couldn't have done it without that stuff.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
My water didn't break until the final dilation check, Even the doctor thought it had already. When the baby was born his cord was in a knot! It was probably a loose knot until it was stretched to my chest.

Your body is meant for this experience, this is how women have given birth for centuries. If you want to remember every amazing moment I highly recommend going natural. The modernized culture of our society is crazy about relieving pain but I believe that some pain needs to be felt and that it will only make your bond with your baby even stronger.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing, I kept forgetting to do that and it helped to have someone there to remind me. Focus on something, my salt lamp was my focal point, every time I closed my eyes I saw a color and focused on that, different color each time came to me. Also the hot water in the tub and ball were amazing and super relieving.

What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back, but I was on all fours which helped speed things up.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
The most amazing feeling in the world, just when I thought I couldn't do it anymore he was on chest and cuddling with me.
