When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized that once I felt my body urging me to get in the warm water that labor was beginning and my body was ready. I took a deep breath and let go of my pregnancy and transitioned into meeting our son!
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
My birth waves were intense, right on top of one another and I felt like my body was not going to get a break. I remember thinking that if I just lay down maybe my body would be at rest. Nothing stopped them from coming at a furious rate.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Having the natural delivery mindset. We never once talked about another birth route and we refused to let anyone else talk to us about an alternate birth plan. This was how our son would come into the world.

What surprised you about your birth?
What beautiful work my body is truly capable of. ?
How unbelievably beautiful it was to see our son birthed into my husbands arms and the look in his eyes when he was the first person to touch our son earthside?

Keep your bubble of peace and positivity strong and never second guess what your body can do. Your body will absolutely never create something that it can not birth. Make sure you have a photographer because you will want to relive those moments over and over!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Laying on my left side or on my hands and knees swaying while my doula applied pressure to my sacrum and my husband let me squeeze his hands

What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back was most comfortable to push in and the best for my husband to guide our son into the world!

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I remember being so overwhelmed that I was crying and no tears were actually coming out. It felt like the exact way I pictured it would.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Keep your bubble of peace and positivity strong and never second guess what your body can do. Our son was 9lb 10oz at birth. Your body will absolutely never create something that it can not birth. Make sure you have a photographer because you will want to relive those moments over and over!
