When did you realize you were really in labor?
It was around 11pm October 22. Sleep was out of the question and I just wanted to be in a warm bath.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Giving that I was giving birth at a hospital, I was mostly afraid of my wishes not being carried out and being coerced into something I didn't want.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
A few days before, I had taken a long hot bath and meditated on my wishes for labor and delivery and pictured my healthy baby girl sleeping safely in my arms.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised at how fast it went after I reached 6cm. In general it felt like time was flying because I was in such a trance. Not having any clocks around was a huge help also.

You can do it! Endure the pain, know every contraction is a step closer to meeting your baby. You will feel like such a badass when it's over and love and appreciate yourself and your body more than ever.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I labored in a warm bath the whole time and just swayed my hips under the water.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I started pushing on all fours, and then about halfway through turned onto my side.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Surreal. I almost couldn't believe it, but there she was. Healthy and beautiful.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
You can do it! Endure the pain, know every contraction is a step closer to meeting your baby. You will feel like such a badass when it's over and love and appreciate yourself and your body more than ever.
