When did you realize you were really in labor?
Woke up with spotting and mild contractions about 15 minutes apart. Was 10 days past due so I knew it would be soon! Finally admitted to myself I was in labor after about 5 hours of timeable contractions that were increasing in intensity.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Pushing. With my first, the pushing had felt like such a relief. This time, it hurt a lot more. Baby was bigger and I felt everything! The feeling of knowing there was no going back was very real! Pushing through the pain was very difficult.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I walked a lot and stayed fit in general. I think it helped baby come quickly (3 hours active labor) and helped me recover quickly.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
It still hurts the second around! I had equated "your second labor will be easier" with "your second labor won't be as painful." It was quicker, but I think it hurt more.
