What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I got a doula, she was invaluable while I was driving to the hospital trying to figure out the best way to breath so I could keep my body from pushing...not as easy as I once imagined!

What surprised you about your birth?
How FAST it was!

There's nothing like feeling your baby come out of you. The pain was real, but it's almost like you flip a switch and you go to another place. There's nothing else Iike it, it's almost impossible to put into words all the feelings and emotions you go through during childbirth. It's a miracle to say the least :)

What pain relief strategies worked best?
You know, my labor was so fast, 2.5 hours from the moment I first felt any pain...in that time I was loading up the truck and waiting on a sitter for my other kids, and then driving to the hospital. I feel like I didn't really have time to implement any pain relief strategies that I learned.

What position did you end up delivering in?
As soon as we got to the hospital my doula was waiting in the parking structure with a wheel chair. She literally ran me to labor and delivery and told the lady at the desk that I've been pushing and need a room NOW. As soon as I got in the room they wanted me in the bed to check me. Nurse checked, said I was complete as my water broke. Then it was panic city!! The doctor was in the operating room so I had to have a resident deliver...at that point it didn't matter, my baby was coming regardless of who was in the room lol
I pushed 3 times and he was out! We hadn't even been at the hospital for 10 minutes!
Luckily there was no traffic on the freeway or I would have delivered in my truck on the freeway for sure!
It was like a movie, my husband was driving the speed limit and not passing people, I was yelling at him to go around the slow pokes and floor it and run the red lights if it was safe hehe
We left my house a little after 9:30, the hospital is 45 minutes away and I delivered at 10:36!
