When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was at home at 4 am I woke up in pain and felt like I couldn't get back in bed I had to get in the shower. I knew something was up because I have never wanted to take a shower at 4am! Shortly after waking up the contractions started coming in waves about every 5 minutes and I new it was the real deal

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The pushing phase was the most challenging part for me because my baby was "sunny side up" and so I felt the urge to push before he was fully engaged into my pelvis. He kept getting hung on my pubic bone. It was challenging because I had felt like up until that point I did so good dealing with each contraction and making it through transition. I just wasn't expecting the pushing to be so hard!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hypnobirthing and prayer. My husband was so supportive by my side and my mother was in the room praying the entire time I was laboring which was amazing.

What surprised you about your birth?
Again the part that caught me off guard was that I had so much trouble with the pushing part... I didn't expect it. But I will say that once my baby got past the pubic bone and was fully engaged in my pelvis, it was a breeze and he was out in like 3 contractions!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Relaxation, sitting on the birthing ball and moaning with my eyes closed through each contraction.

The traditional position on my back with legs up in the air.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I think you can tell in the picture that I was overwhelmed at that point. Overwhelmed with both joy and relief that it was over!
