What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Joined a Facebook group for natural birth. The women gave great and real advice, and gave me the confidence that I could have my ideal birth.

What surprised you about your birth?
Everything. It was a surreal, empowering experience. Afterwards, I still can't believe I did it. It feels like a dream now. I guess that's why women have multiple children.

You're body was meant to do this. Hire a doula, even if you have an amazingly supportive partner. If I can do it, anyone can. Believe in yourself.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Shower, focusing on my breathing, and changing positions.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Side-lying down.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Incredible! A relief to finally hold her, and have the pain in the past.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
You're body was meant to do this. Hire a doula, even if you have an amazingly supportive partner. If I can do it, anyone can. Believe in yourself. When contractions got more and more intense, my husband reminded me that we were getting closer to meeting our baby girl.
