When did you realize you were really in labor?
I started having contractions right at 11 pm. My daughter was asleep and my husband had just gone to sleep so it was just me.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Learning to trust my body and trust God with everything.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Exercises on my birth ball and reading birth affirmations. Prayer and trust in Jesus.

What surprised you about your birth?
Birthing and meeting your child you’ve known for the last nine months is such a beautiful experience. I think what surprised me is how my son turned himself once his head was out. That was so amazing to experience.

Read all the unassisted birth books you can. Educate educate educate. Research research research. If there is something that makes you nervous, read up on it as much as you can. Trust your body. God made you to birth your child. Relax.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Laying on an exercise ball, rotating hips on exercise ball, laying on the side to relax, praying, listening to worship music, relaxing, reading affirmations/verses from my Bible

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Surreal. I felt like a rockstar. I had birthed him completely alone. I had an unassisted birth as well as an unassisted pregnancy (besides chiropractor) and I don’t like ultrasound anyway so getting to meet him and find out he was a boy was magical.

What did you name your baby, and why?
Logan Steven Harper. My husband loves the name Logan and I wanted to surprise him with it. Steven for my dad's name. ?

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Read all the unassisted birth books you can. Educate educate educate. Research research research. If there is something that makes you nervous, read up on it as much as you can. Trust your body. God made you to birth your child. Relax.
