When did you realize you were really in labor?
I started feeling irregular contractions at 4:00 AM on Feb 1st, one day before his due date.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The hardest part was not knowing how far dilated I was or how much longer the labor would be. I didn’t realize I was in transition. I had to focus and be coached through each contraction.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful preparation was to visualize my birth and not focus on all the details.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was fully effaced and dilated to 9 cm when I got to the hospital. It went quicker than I had expected and laboring at home was doable with good support.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Swaying back and forth and leaning on my husband during each contraction. I focused on breathing and relaxing.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
After the final push I felt my baby slide out and with relief, I said “I can’t believe I did it.” I started crying and when he was placed on my chest I felt more love than I ever have. I had never been so happy.

What did you name your baby, and why?
He is named Bridger Nicholas. Nicholas after my father in law. Bridger is a historical name. We didn’t decide his name until he was two days old.
