When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was induced four days past my due date because baby was measuring two weeks past gestational age.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Because I planned to have a VBAC I had to be continuously monitored which confined me to a bed.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I accepted that my plans may not work out and prepared emotionally for that time if it came that I would need a repeat cesarean.

What surprised you about your birth?
How large the baby actually was, 11 lbs 1 oz! I had no idea he would be that big!

Incredible and emotional. He was huge! I didn't even have diabetes or hbp at all during pregnancy. I just had a giant healthy baby boy and I was so happy he was out of me!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Pitocin contractions are incredibly painful. Breathing through them calmly seemed impossible at times. I gave on and had an epidural after 7 hours of labor.

What position did you end up delivering in?
After a long day of intense contractions and zero progress in dilation, I agreed to have another cesarean. My uterus was tired my baby was tired, we were all ready for it to be over.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Good luck to you in that endeavor. I tried my best but things don't always turn out how we want. I am so sad that my human experience to birth naturally will never happen but eternally grateful for my two boys.
