When did you realize you were really in labor?
I began having prodromal labor on a Friday night and did not give birth to my daughter until Sunday night at 12:30 am.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging part for me was the complete lack of support I received from the women around me when I shared with them my intentions to have a natural birth. I actually wrote a post about this challenge on my blog that I'd love for you to share with your readers....

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
By far the most helpful, was simply doing positive affirmations... the mind, after all, is the strongest muscle and we must take care of it to succeed in challenges!
-
What surprised you about your birth?
What surprised me was.... MY OWN STRENGTH! Up until the minute that baby comes, there's still that little voice of uncertainty inside your head. When it was all over, I no longer questioned IF I was strong enough. I knew!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
The simple act of being free to move helped me tremendously through the pain.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
There are no words, but PROUD if I had to pick one. I was so proud that her and I did it together.
-
What did you name your baby, and why?
Mila Joelle. No elaborate explanation needed here... my husband & I decided on it in advance and just thought it was as beautiful as we knew she would be!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
STOP doubting yourself right this minute. YOU are capable.
