What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Read others stories, lots of prayer, and tons of researching about birthing.

What surprised you about your birth?
How big he was and that he was delivered face up! Midwife had no idea until he came out. That explains the back pain :(

Trust your body! Your body knows what to do and baby knows when he/she is ready.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I didn't do much, just listened to my midwife, and squeezed her and my husband's hand. It was in a tub.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
Sitting in tub.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
So amazing!! He had no vernix and looked like a freshly bathed 1 month old.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Trust your body! Your body knows what to do and baby knows when he/she is ready. My baby was 42+4 weeks "late". Everyone told me to get induced and that I wouldn't be able to push him out because he'd be so big. My midwives encouraged natural inducing. I still said no. I wanted him to come the moment he was ready. And he did. On my Nana's birthday. He was the first baby of the family to not be held by her since she had passed away. So it was special that he was born on her day. He was born quite large! 10lbs 4oz 22" AND face up. Which could make for a very difficult birth. Though my back ached A LOT, it wasn't a long birth, no complications, and he was so healthy and plump.
