When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized at 4:15am that I was in labor. I had woken up after not being able to sleep well, (I went through my early labor in my sleep), and I had to pee. When I stood up I thought I didn't wipe well enough or something, because there was a bead of liquid that rolled down my leg. As soon as I laid down to go back to sleep my water broke. Soon after my first big contraction hit me.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing for me was thinking I couldn't go through with giving birth without help from pain medication. Thankfully my midwife and husband encouraged me that I could get through it like it was nothing.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful thing for me was meditation and yoga. I was able to keep myself calm and collected through the whole process.

What surprised you about your birth?
What surprised me about giving birth to my daughter was how quickly my labor and delivery went with her. I had a water birth and could not ask for a more relaxing and calm labor and delivery. I was absolutely magical what a simple bath and meditation could do for a woman's body during such a crazy time.

Just remember that many women before you have gone through this natural process with no medical intervention. You are strong and your body can endure so much. Never lose faith in yourself. You are crossing a road that is such a beautiful journey and that finish line is even more magnificent. We all believe in you and wish you the best labor and delivery possible.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
For me, the best pain management strategy was deep mooing sounds. It almost puts you in a trance like state and you can focus more on getting the baby out rather than getting through the pain.

What position did you end up delivering in?
The position I ended up in was reclined in the bath tub with my husband behind me. A little bit of gravity goes a long way!

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Hold my daughter for the first time was absolutely magical. I couldn't believe she was in our arms finally.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
For other moms that want to go natural, I would say that trying to get passed the medical side of everything is going to seem difficult and you are going to at least try to cave once during your labor. Just remember that many women before you have gone through this natural process with no medical intervention. You are strong and your body can endure so much. Never lose faith in yourself.
