When did you realize you were really in labor?
On a sunday, 5am, when I woke up to mild menstrual-like cramps. And I had guessed the date. I also felt inside he was coming.

Resting, I had a very long labor and no breaks.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hire a doula! she was my rock. She kept me going, she knew i really wanted that VBAC.

What surprised you about your birth?
How long it took and how amazing I felt after he was born.

Pulling him from between my legs was incredible, as i brought him up I couldn't believe he was mine. After all that work, all those hours, seeing his face gave me the most amazing rush ever. I felt like super woman.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Massage. Aromatherapy. I had a chiropractor come to my house towards the end, to help me keep progressing. I think that was what did the trick.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Sitting on a birth stool.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Pulling him from between my legs was incredible, as i brought him up I couldn't believe he was mine. After all that work, all those hours, seeing his face gave me the most amazing rush ever. I felt like super woman.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
You can do it! make sure you get the support you need around you. People who believe in you, and how you want to birth. Channel all the positivity into that birth. It can happen. And it feels amazing!
