What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Prenatal yoga, more than preparing for the act of childbirth it made me much more comfortable in my body during pregnancy. Minimizing aches and pains, helping to relax and gently working out every day. It made me happy every day. Also learning to believe in the power of conscious breathing.

What surprised you about your birth?
That it was shorter then my first child's birth. I was walking in the park trying to speed up labour and in 2,5h time I was holding my baby already.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing consciously during contractions. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
Standing feet apart, with arms raised against the wall, and circling my hips.
Also distracting myself with other activities such as walking in the park, stopping in the cafe for cake and coffee, applying temporary tattoos with my husband.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Standing up next to the bed, slightly leaning on it.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
He looked a bit confusing to me with all that cord with him, a bit like a long roll of fresh sausage.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Get to know your body, learn to breath, and enjoy the empowering feeling of having given birth.
