When did you realize you were really in labor?
When the period-like pains wouldn't pause. Little did I know that I had been in labour for quite some time but because I had been expecting the pain to be dire, I simply did not realize.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I don't regret going natural. The pain can be overwhelming, but with mindfulness, it's very much possible to let it consume you instead of having to fight it with all your might.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Reading up helped me be aware of what to expect, even though the actual experience can't begin to compare with what's described in any book or other material of information available.

What surprised you about your birth?
How quickly it all happened - I laboured fast and by the time she was out, I was in utter shock and disbelief!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing and 'riding' the contractions as if they were waves.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
Sitting with my legs up.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
An overwhelming sensation of relief, satisfaction, and tears!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
It certainly won't do any harm to try, and if anyone says you cannot, show them you can. If, despite all efforts, it doesn't work out, don't beat yourself up - being a great mother is not by any means defined by the birthing method.
