Share Your Thoughts 3 Comments Stevie Apr 9 at 9:31 pm Named my middle son Rowdy Gene to match his father Randall Gene’s initials. His first son. We lost him in a car accident in 2014 at the age of 7. He lived up to his name and I love that he was every bit of a spark and fire that his name stood for. Reply Erin Jul 23 at 12:49 pm I named my baby Rowdy, after my uncle who’s nickname is Rowdy. As an adult and businessman he goes by his given name, Roy. However, I didn’t like the name Roy, which is also my grandfather’s name, so I chose to name my son after his nickname. I have gotten a lot of flack for his name (especially since his middle name, named after his father’s middle name, is also the name of the town we live in), however, it is well suited to my sweet, fun-loving, strong, active adventurer, and I see it in a great context, not the negative context that comes to mind for my critics. He was also the most active baby you could imagine in the womb, and has been since day one out of the womb, so I think it is accurate. I believe that his sweet nature will overcome any negative stigma that he encounters associated with his name. If he ends up having a hard time in school with it, he can always go by his second middle name, which is Joey (his dad’s nickname) if he chooses. I love him and his name. Reply Christine Jul 3 at 2:22 pm It’s a name that goes well with his big brother Brody. It is a tough name and an exciting name.
