She is a Mali, rhymes with holly. Others ask if it’s like the country which it is. I have a cousin who can’t seem to get it and calls her May-Lee. Reply Lacy Apr 22 at 3:14 pm My mother gave me Mali as my middle name when I was born as a way to name me after my grandmother and great-grandmother whose middle names were Mae and Lee. I had planned on naming my first daughter Mali for as long as I can remember. I love the family connection and I enjoy the sound of it, when it’s pronounced correctly(May-lee), but mostly people pronounce it as (mAh-lee) when they read it. They give it an a-as-in “apple” sound instead of an a-as-in “may” sound. When my daughter (who is four) introduces herself, usually people think that her name is Baylee and now she just introduces herself as “I’m Mali M-A-L-I.” It’s pretty cute and memorable! ^-^* Reply Share your thoughts on the name Mali Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.
